Retreats are usually longer than recollections. The former typically last at least three days and are often held annually, while the latter are normally one-day events conducted on a monthly basis. Retreats may be undertaken either by a group or by an individual. Participants may choose a specific theme for the retreat or allow the retreat master to design a customized program. Recollections usually consist of a maximum of two 50-minute talks. The venue depends on the preferences and arrangements of the participants.
