What people say about our
Carmelite Saints?

"St. Teresa's boldness, creativity and excellence as a reformer, are the fruit of the interior presence of the Lord.”
Pope Francis
"St. Teresa is an authentic teacher of Christian life for the faithful in all times. He frequently celebrated her ability to balance deep, mystical contemplation with industrious, practical work, teaching generations that time spent in prayer is never lost."
Pope Benedict XIV
"St. John of the Cross is a wonderful literary artist and the loftiest poet of Spain."
Dámaso Alonso
“But there is still a poetry that is more angelic, celestial, and divine—one that no longer seems of this world, nor can be measured by literary standards—and yet it is more ardent with passion than any secular poetry, and as elegant and exquisite in form, and as vivid and figurative as the finest works of the Renaissance."
Menéndez Pelayo
St. Therese was "a totally extraordinary saint, more extraordinary than even Saint John of the Cross or Saint Teresa of Avila... [rejoicing] in heaven in her little sister's immense simplicity and love."

Thomas Merton,

“Is the atom a small thing? And yet what havoc it has wrought. Is Therese' ‘Little Way’ a small contribution to the life of the Spirit? It has all the power of the Spirit of Christianity behind it. It is an explosive force that can transform our lives and the life of the world, once put into effect.”
